This flow covers creating shifts, assigning workers, workers seeing and requesting changes, and owners or managers approving or denying those requests. For per-step details, see Schedule and Shift requests.
1. Admin creates shifts and assigns workers
Admin (owner or manager): Go to Schedule (dashboard) or, if you’re a manager, Manage → Schedule. Select a location. Create a shift: set date, start time, end time, and assign a worker from the list (workers are often filtered by that location). Save. You can create multiple shifts and assign different workers. See Creating shifts for a step-by-step.
2. Worker sees shifts
Worker: Open the worker app and go to the Shifts tab. You see only the shifts assigned to you: date, time, location. You can open a shift to see details and to request a change (e.g. swap with someone or give away the shift).
3. Worker requests a shift change
Worker: From the Shifts tab, open a shift and tap the option to request a change or swap. Choose the type (e.g. give away, swap with another worker) and submit. The request appears as pending for the approver.
4. Owner or manager approves or denies
Admin (owner or manager): Open Shift requests (dashboard) or Manage → Shift requests (managers see only requests for their locations). Each pending request shows the worker, shift, and requested change. Approve to apply the change (e.g. reassign the shift); Deny to leave the shift as is. See Approving requests for more.
5. Worker sees the outcome
Worker: In the Shifts or shift-requests view, the request status updates to approved or denied. If approved, the shift may disappear from your list (e.g. given away) or show the new assignment (e.g. swap). The schedule in the dashboard and for other workers updates automatically.
